Tombstone, Arizona - March 2009:
Went on our first long bike ride of 2009.
I've never been to Tombstone, but it's a big biker destination, so it must be okay.
Not that I'm a big biker, but I do have one, so I guess I am. This trip was came at the suggestion of our good friends Randy and Debbie.
They have been a few times and really enjoyed it.
Besides, they've never pointed us in a wrong direction yet.
It's nice to be able go someplace where you can legally walk down the street with a sidearm. |
Bisbee, Arizona - March 2009:
Bisbee is an old copper mining town, just South of Tombstone.
It's actually a bit of a garden spot considering it's in the middle of the desert.
We stopped at Dot's Cafe, right next to the Bisbee Cemetery and consummed some pie and ice cream.
Great little diner. Then we rode into the heart of town and walked around the tourist-trappy area.
It's a nice little town.
I would certainly recommend that it if you're in the Tombstone area, visit Bisbee. |
Tombstone, Arizona - March 2009:
Back in Tombstone the following day to see the local sights.
We walked by the Cemetery and down to the monument for Edward Shieffelin, founder of Tombstone.
Then we walked back to Boot Hill, and downtown Tombstone. That afternoon, we ran into a great group of German Travelers.
They were riding motorcycles cross-country and enjoying America's Southwest.
They tried hard to get us drunk, but we just couldn't keep up with them. One of them lived in the US and spoke very good English.
He now lives in Germany, but keeps a motorcycle and house trailer in Apache Junction, AZ.
For the rest, I used my best broken Deutsch to try to communicate.
We had a great time and hope the rest of their trip was excellent. |
