Avila Beach, California
Cool Off on the Beach

Avila Beach:

The California coast has a lot of nice inlets and communities mixed with golf courses, fishing villages, shopping malls and farms. Avila Beach is not too far from Morro Bay, one of the cooler and foggier parts of the coast. We were there for a week that encompassed Easter Sunday. We went to our first Easter Sunday beach service. Very different and very serene.

Morro Bay & Morro Rock:

Not too far North of Avila Beach is Morro Bay. There's a big rock called Morro Rock and, for some reason, there's a big rock up in the California Sierra Mountains called Morro Rock too. Obviously, they ran out of names for rocks.

Easter Sunday Sunrise Service:

I get up at 4:00 AM to go to work and don't sleep in too much longer on days off. I love watching the sunrise. This was one of the best ones I've seen. Don't know if it was because it was Easter Sunday, we were on the beach, it was a nice morning, the ocean breeze was light, or that we were in the sand, but whatever it was, it was definitely memorable.

Goodbye Avila Beach:

This was a very relaxing trip. There's a lot to do and see in this part of California. I highly recommend a visit to this area. Just be prepared for one more feature of this part of the coast - FOG. We lucked out every day, but there are days here that it's pretty bad. Avoid a winter trip here.
