Buell Riders Meet - Buellton/Solvang
Good Folks, Great Riders, Fast Bikes

How To Clean Your Sidewalls on The Pavement:

Buell Riders Meet:

My Buell Ulysses is my daily driver. It's not as luxurious as the big Harley, but it's quicker and much faster in the canyons. It's a kick to ride. I'm not usually into the big group thingy. This is the first big bike gathering like this I've even attended. It turned out to be a lot of fun.

I rode up to Pasadena after work on a Thursday, so I could start from there early in the morning. After breakfast, I rode through a damp and foggy Angeles Crest Forest, North of Smell-A. Snaking in and out of the mountains and canyons in a Westerly direction, I ended up in Buellton early in the afternoon on Friday.

The Last Leg:

I was only on Highway 166 for about an Hour, then started heading South on Tepusquet Road. That was a nice, scenic road down toward Solvang via Foxen Canyon Road and through the little village of Ballard.

There were little mule deer everywhere, even in the yards of some of the homes along the way. All these roads were new to me on this day. I've kept a copy of the directions for a return trip on this scenic cornucopia.

Buellton:

Bikes started slowly trickling in all afternoon. Many were staying at the Motel 6 where I was. They came in from as far North as San Francisco, as far South as San Diego, and as far East as Phoenix. Thanks to our good hosts at American Sport Bike, there were events planned for the whole weekend including dinners, canyon rides, a trip to the Motorcycle Museum in Solvang (bet ya didn't know about that), and a barbeque with bike competition.

If you're riding a Ducati, Aprillia, Buell, Harley, or are looking for riding apparel or general maintenance items, check them out. Alan, the owner is one of those genuinly honest people you'll enjoy dealing with. He was a great help to me getting the headers on my Buell ceramic-coated.

Buells Arriving at the Hotel
Sean Smith, getting off the Orange XB, is one of the people I hooked-up with over the weekend.
His bike has a lot of custom pieces-parts and his helmet is an unusual Air Force-style.
