Fall 2008 - Four Weeks in Italy
Bolzano, The Ice Man & Venice

Bolzano:

Day Six - Bolzano:

We drove downhill from the Dolomites and stopped in the town of Bolzano. There we saw the Ice Man, a skinny old hippy they call Oetzi. They found him in the ice in the nearby Schnalstal Glacier. He gave them a very cold reception.

He'd been frozen for about five thousand years and his body is amazingly still intact. For more about Ice Man, see South Tyrol Museum Of Archeology.

There was also an incredible vegetable and fruit display in the middle of the town square. Don't get to see that everyday.

Venice:

Day Six - Venice:

When we arrived in Venice, we transferred from bus to boat. We instantly began soaking-in the magical atmosphere of Venice. We starting with an evening Gondola race, complete with an accordian and soloist escort - no piano.

They started off a little odd with "I Did It My Way", but finally got into the true Italian spirit with hits like "When The Moon Hits Your Eye Like A Big Pizza Pie - That's Amore" "I Shot The Carabinieri, But I Did Not Shoot The Polezia" and of course "Volare".
