Fall 2008 - Four Weeks in Italy
Very Vertical Volterra, Italy's Alabaster Capital

Day Twenty-Four: Volterra:

Day Twenty-Four - Volterra:

From the Sora Farm stay, Maria gave all four of us and our luggage a ride in a tiny little Fiat. From town, we grabbed a bus, a train, a bus and then another bus to get us to Volterra. Fun!

Wayne and Debbie went to Malpensa today as their trip was a couple days shorter than ours and they will be catching a plane tomorrow.

We arrived at Volterra early in the afternoon, so after check-in we had time to check out some of the sites. We found the old Roman Amphitheater and a place called the Guiness Irish Pub & Restaraunt. They weren't open yet (a lot of places in Italy close between lunch and dinner), but there was a Guiness guard cat on duty.

Check out Volterra at: Volterra.

Another good source is at: The Heart of Tuscany - Volterra & Cecina.
