Cleaning Up the Big Four-Stroke
My Favorite Utah-Conquering Enduro

1996 ATK 605E:

Unlike my expensive Harley, my ATK is almost bulletproof. It's twelve hard-ridden years old and needed some clean-up. No engine work, though. It has a Rotax engine and they're known for being being pretty bullet-proof.

Main reason I started working on it was because it was starting to look a little oily. Turns out the oil return line from the frame backbone to the engine was cracked. At least it lasted 10 years, which is about 9.5 years longer than the Harley lasted before being a headache.

While I had it apart, I modified the rear suspension to get the bike to sit a little lower. I have a 28" inseam, the ATK has a 37" seat height. Not a problem when flying through the whoops, but more of an issue through rocky sections where you might need to dab your foot occasionally.

It Started With a Need to Change This Oil Line
It was leaking, but I guess that's okay after 10 years.

Hard to See, But Shock Mount is Moved Back an Inch
This allowed for about 1.3" shorter seat height. Wheel travel
dropped from 13.6" down to about 12.5". Still plenty.
